Dear Netters: We have had a challenge in our school to having Harry Potter books read aloud in the classroom. The principal is very supportive, and we are following the proper procedure. This person's objections seem to come from a religious source, probably an outgrowth of the Onion thing. I have been collecting material from the LM_NET archives, but I need to know if you have anything to add. This woman claims that Harry Potter books have been banned in several states. I know this isn't true, but it's hard to prove a negative. She also says J. K. Rowling (whom her correspondent identifies as Rollin) is a satanist (sounds like the Onion is the source on this). I have an unauthorized biography of Ms. Rowling to try to refute that, but again I'm trying to prove a negative. Any help you can give me will be appreciated. I would be glad to post a hit with the replies. And thanks for all the great stuff in the archives--I have several interesting articles to show her. TIA, as always. You're the best. Sylvia L.
