HIT: Books for Student with Culinary Interests
Mystery series by Diane Mott Davidson, including "Cereal Murders" and "Dying
for Chocolate." She's a caterer/detective, and recipes are included.
_Dying for Chocolate_, or _The Killer Pancake_ might suffice, they include
recipes.
My first reaction would be to offer some of the Goldie Bear mystery books by
Diane Mott Davidson. The catering/recipies run throughout the book. Many
are also available from Recorded books.
If you want at book about a chef, _Fell_ by Kerr is good. It's not a
culinary theme, exactly, but he does take on the other identity in order
to get the money to open his own restaurant. He wants to be a chef.
The first thing that came to my mind was Like Water for Chocolate - a
wonderfully written novel that incorporates the almost magical cooking
skills (and recipes) of one of the daughters. Sexually explicit content,
though. Probably need to pre-read to check for appropriateness.
Books by James Beard have lots of "lore" along with recipes.
