HS Book Sale & Reading Program Questions

Hello all. I'm a brand new high school librarian, and have been lurking =
for a few weeks here, stunned not only at the beginning of the school =
year, but at the amazing knowledge domain of you
subscribers.=20

Perhaps someone on the list can help me with two questions.=20

 1. Do any of you high school folks do book sales at Parent Night events? =
If so, do you have any
suggestions? We have a parents night coming on on September 17 (which was =
just announced),
and there is talk of a book sale happening...=20

2. Has anyone had any experience with the success (or lack) of reading =
programs, such as Sylvan,
 Readak, or Learning Center? I have a colleague whose 11-year-old stepson =
is in reading trouble
 and she's pursuing these extra programs. Any experience with these would =
be helpful.=20
