Hello all - While I am finishing my MLS degree requirements, I am also our elementary school's PTA media center coordinator. This is my first year as such, and my main task is to recruit and schedule volunteers. What programs or activities does your PTA/PTO do for your media center that you find helpful? We do a volunteer appreciation tea at the end of the year, and the PTA gives the library $1000 to buy books each year. There are other projects that benefit the MC, such as the two book fairs held each year, but I was wondering what other ideas are out there that you like and work well. (And if there are any you DON'T like, I'd appreciate knowing about that, too, and why. I know sometimes PTA's have the best intentions but push ideas that just don't work.) I will post a HIT if there is an interest. Thanks! Jackie Jacqueline Church, LMS/MLS student Southern Conn. State Univ.
