LM_NET: Library Media Networking
Hello LMS experts!
I'm a new to the LMS profession, almost done with my degree and working in
my first library, a K-5 public elementary school media center.
I have a pressing request for information/suggestions about library
shelving. I read some discussion about this in the LM_NET archives, but I
still don't know what I will do.
I am needing some 42" high shelving. What we have looks like wood, but it
may be the wood laminate stuff. I looked in the Brodart, Highsmith & Demco
catalogs. They all have shelves that would do, though they are pricier than
I expected. Do you have a favorite furniture company for library shelving?
I have people doing extra wiring for computers and they have agreed to add
another bank of electrical drops, but I will have to get some shelves off of
the wall. And those shelves are too tall to put in the middle of the floor.
My principal, who will have the final say about purchases, wants details
ASAP and I don't really know much about this. I hope I haven't gotten in
over my head with the wiring suggestion. I know that it will be very
necessary in a few years when we have more computers, but this is a lot to
take on the third day of a new career.
