Thank-you to everyone who submitted information about the Lunchroom Traffic Lights. I never did find out from anybody what to look for in the archives to find the last report, but new information came in with several places to get them and some comments on their use. Dear Sarah: The traffic light was for sale in some local stores in Indianapolis called "United Arts and Education". They are only located in Indiana and Ohio. However, I did find a listing of a toll-free number for them: 1-800-322-3247. It was even on the front of their recent flyer, which sat in the front seat of my car for weeks-and now I can't find it! Susie Highley, Media Specialist My kids' elementary school had one. At first, it did the job of being a good signal that kids were too loud. Eventually, its effectiveness wore off, the kids were still noisy, and the adults in the lunchroom got a headache from the noise of the light combined with the voices. I think they used it for 3 years then abandoned it. M.S. Preissner, LMS I visited a new teacher supply store called United Art and Education. There were some things there that I thought you might be interested in. They sell a traffic light that monitors noise level called a Yacker Tracker (mfg. # TAG-20010) for $34.95. I called them just now and they said that it has been a popular item and has sold out twice. They are hoping to get more in. (It is not in their catalog, since it is a new item.) You can order a catalog (it's free) by going to the website-www.unitednow.com Connie Welch, Librarian Sarah, Many of the schools who had this traffic light complained about it. They said it was loud and annoying. There should be a thread abut it in the achives. I hope you have a great school year. Kathy Geronzin Sarah S.
