Thank you to the many LM_NET members who have sent messages of support. Although ordinarily I would be no where near the WTC, yesterday I started jury duty and probably just missed by 10 minutes coming out of the subway station just above the WTC. I walked over to the court house and went and registered for jury duty totally unaware of what was going on 5 blocks away. We were dismissed at 9:30 and when I exited the building I could see the towers burning (unbelievable and horrible). I joined the throngs walking north . To make a long story short I got home safely in northern Manattan by 3 p.m. after bumping into an old friend who was waiting for his wife to pick him up. THey gave me a ride home. Amazingly, my son, who is a student at Stuyvesant H.S., just 3 blocks north of the WTC, did not go to school yesterday morning because he was a volunteer on a political campaign (yesterday was our primary - now cancelled). I actually did not want him to miss classes. (I'm so glad a stubborn 17 yr. old prevailed!). When school reopens, I will be at a new school. My last day at my old school was Monday. I have no idea how we will handle talking to the students about this.
