I've been enjoying this thread and just had to add my 2 cents worth!
My two biggest gripes are "alot instead of a lot" and the correct use of
"it's and its". (it is vs belonging to it!) <grin>
Stretching this a bit - my favorite (brought back to my memory after seeing
the "Ring, Rang, Rung" example) was the conversation I had 16 years ago with
my new in-laws from the Midwest who said that I was the one with the speech
impediment, since I was from "Joisey":
Merry: as in Merry Christmas
Marry: as in "Will you marry me?" and
Mary: as in my sister-in-law's first name.
My in-laws pronounce them all "Mary, Mary, and Mary"!
This novice wishes to thank all of you veterans for making my job easier!
