I don't think it's the topic that is controversial but rather the fact that the professor is "writing a book" about a subject that you are researching for her. I now realize that this is a compilation of essays from various individuals on the subject of media literacy, but I think that the impression initially presented was that someone outside the field of library science was asking a graduate student to write a book about a subject that the professor wasn't capable of writing herself (for whatever reason). Obviously, the professor is using various perspectives to present the topic and how it is perceived / taught. Perhaps your work with the professor will lead you to write your own in-depth book on this topic for each of us within the profession to use later. Good luck! ~Shonda Brisco Trinity Valley MS / US Librarian Fort Worth, TX sbrisco021@charter.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Angel Kymes" <Kymes4@AOL.COM> To: <LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU> Sent: Tuesday, August 03, 2004 10:43 PM Subject: Media Literacy > Sorry - I didn't think this was a controversial thing...
