Hi,
We have a first grader at our school with a VERY serious allergy to peanuts.
The mother is very rational about it. She has supplied epi pens to the
school. One is kept in the classroom, one in the cafeteria, one in the PE
office, one in the clinic, and one in the office. At the beginning of the
year she comes in with practice pens and teaches/reteaches us how to use
them. She discusses food allergies and reasonable ways to avoid
contamination.

Washing hands and using baby wipes to wipe down the tables/desks is a
reasonable method of cleaning. The cafeteria tables are cleaned with
standard cleaner.

We have one student who is allergic to shellfish. The mother wanted us to
not serve popcorn shrimp. The principal said, no. She can lay a place mat
on the table if she wants to be extra safe.

There are more dangerous areas to worry about. Computer keyboards, library
books, etc. Places other students touch without thinking to wash their
hands first.

Bene e Pace (Blessings and Peace),
