Cyndi, Lynda and Alan have written great responses. I'm dismayed by the last line below, though, because the next logical step (supported by the library literature) is for a strong administrator to set library collaboration as an evaluation goal for the teachers. I'm sorry to hear you say that that won't happen with your administrator. In the absence of that, I think that your next best bet is to identify ANOTHER team, as Lynda suggests, a team that sees most students (is there a Freshman or Sophomore science class that all the kids take? U.S. History? Health?) and work first to establish an annual collaborative project with those teachers. This way you can rest assured that you have reached all of the students once. From there, I would use Alan's "soft" suggestions. They really work! Working those connections with teachers--OVER TIME--is often the key to longterm collaborative practice! And give yourself credit for what you are doing well. We get so stuck in looking at the shortcomings of our programs.
