I’m curious to know how other librarians promote historical fiction. I’ve purchased a number of good historical fiction titles for my collection, but the teachers in the Social Studies department aren’t interested in giving reading assignments since they are very focused on teaching to the prescribed standards they have to meet. I will have a chance this year to bring at least the 9th graders and possibly others to the library once each six-weeks to check out a book, but don’t know how to promote historical fiction so that they will want to read it. Any suggestions? Deb Waugh Librarian/Instructional Technologist The Emmett G.
