I agree with Kathy....please include these statements in your presentation. It's time to stop sugar-coating the idea of "Internet safety through filtering" for educators. We are in a 2.0 world, using "safety techniques" from the 18th century (what we can't see, won't hurt us....out of sight, out of mind....don't open the door for big, bad wolf!) Many of our younger teachers, most librarians, and some rebellious technology directors understand how our "pencil and paper" world has changed and yet our educational system won't ...our goal is not necessarily to be on the cutting edge of technology, we just want to utilize those technologies and resources that our students will need to know in order to become successful beyond elementary school.
