Thanks to everyone who responded to my question about

HIT.

1. Onomatopoeia

http://www.readerspeak.com/picbooks.htm

While this doesn't help you much for this term (only 1
book for
Onomatopoeia, I thought this page was interesting...

2. The book that comes immediately to mind is Why
Mosquitoes Buzz in
People's Ears by Aardema, which has the sounds of the
animals' movements, as opposed to their vocalizations.

3. You may want to look at a copy of Using Picture
Storybooks to Teach
Literary Devices by Susan Hall. There are at least
three volumes. Good
 luck!

4. "Slop Goes the Soup" by Pamela Duncan Edwards

5. Using Picture Storybooks to Teach Literary Devices
by Susan Hall is a
great source.
Some of her recommended titles for onomatopoeia are:

Charlotte's Web - - E.B. White
Angus and the Ducks - Majorie Flack
Tale of Peter Rabbit - Beatrix Potter
Sky Dogs - Jane Yolen

6. Mmm, Cookies, by Munsch. It's funny, and there are
lots of different sounds.

7. Denise Fleming is great...

8. Philharmonic dog, Cute book about a dog who
doesn't like
noises, especially thunder, but falls in love with
music.

9. I like Rattletrap Car by Phyllis Roo

10. There's a great Christmas book I use every year
called "The Bump on Santa's Noggin". and the publisher
has activity guides.
mittenpress.com
The sister book "The Bird in Santa's Beard" teaches
alliterations.

11. Bedhead, by Margie Palatini & Snip Snap : What's
That
by Mara Bergman -

12. I used the book The Great Fuzz Frenzy by Stevens.

13. Here are the ones we use:
When Uncle took the Fiddle
Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type
The Listening Walk
Night in the Country
Rattletrap Car

14. I did a Google search on onomatopoeia picture
books and came up with a lot of for books and lesson
plans.

15. Achoo! Bang! Crash! by Ross McDonald
This are under subject heading: English language -
Onomatopoeic words (just happened to notice that so I
thought I would pass it on!)

16. Phooey! (That's the name of the book!)

17. Snow Sounds: an onomatopoeic story by David
Johnson

18. One of my favorites is Yikes! by Robert Florzcak
Another is Snow Sounds: an onomatopoeia story by David
A. Johnson

19. As a lover of words and all the English language
has to offer to our children, I salute your search for
a book on Onomatopoeia. I don’t have a book to
recommend but I do have a “round” game in my Story
Collection. Check out

20. How about Click Clack Moo, Cows That Type by
Doreen Cronin?

21. The Treasure of Ghostwood Gully: A Southwest
