I have my personal kindle, and love it.

I know of exactly 3 students in my middle school I would trust to return it in
working order. Our kids toss their backpacks around all the time. I can't imagine
it lasting more than 4 or 5 students. I do not mean they would destroy it on
purpose, but stuff happens, especially to middle schoolers.

What credit card will you attach to buy the books. Anyone holding the kindle can
purchase on that account.
Kindles also have access to the internet.

Subject: [LM_NET] Target: Kindles in school libraries

I have searched the archives and have found one target, from about a year ago, for
this question, but no real hits.

Now that Kindles have been around for a year or two, have any of you found a good
use for them in a middle school library? My superintendent has asked if I'd like to
get a few Kindles to try in our library. They seem to be very popular for personal
use, but I'm wondering about the logistics of having seventh and eighth graders use
them. If any of you have Kindles in your library, could you please answer these few
questions:

1. How many Kindles do you have and do you lend them out to students for at-home
use?
2. How sturdy are they? Can they withstand being lugged around in the average
middle school bookbag?
3. Have you found any cost savings in purchasing books for Kindles versus
purchasing print editions of books?
4. Do the kids like to use the Kindles and have you noticed if using the Kindles
has encouraged reluctant readers to read?

Thanks so much in advance. I'll post a hit if I get some responses.
