Hi fellow librarians, I am writing a research paper the library automation system, Alexandria. I need your help in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the system from a cataloging perspective? How are MARC records displayed? How are MARC records edited? How are MARC records displayed from the staff perspective? Tag numbers? Word Labels? How are records imported into the system? How often? Are there difficulties? How is original cataloging done? Is authority control available? Are CIP records imported--how are they handled or are they? What do you see as the future of OPACS and why? Anything else you would like to share?
