To all LM_NETters I inconvenienced and/or cost money(!)...
I posted my Windows Security directions document (WINSECUR.TRN; 37K
long) as an "Attachment" to an email message. I thought that only if you
gave your own email program a View/Save/Retrieve(etc.) Attachment command
would the document actually be transmitted to (and bulk up) your inbox.
Instead, what evidently happened to many of you (and we now number
1,700 plus) was that you wound up with 57K of "MIME" stuff that most(?)
of you who were interested did not have the software to transform into
readable, formatted text (even some of you who _do_ have PINE as your
email program said this didn't work for you.) To those of you who have to
pay for online time and/or storage space or long-distance phone rates,
this wasted your money without your consent. I really apologize for this,
and have learned a lesson (at your expense, I ruefully realize):
Don't transmit something large to individual addresses (including a
listserv) unless you know what you're doing!
Until someone can show me a reliable way to transfer an ASCII text
file to a publically-accessible server somewhere on the Net, I will have
to send photocopies (the document is about 18 printed pages) to each of
you who want it (and really need it, please; just distributing this may
turn out to be quite a project). I can make copies for 3 cents/page, so
if those of you who would like a copy will do the following, I'd
appreciate it:
      ---Send me a 9" x 11" self-addressed envelope
---Enclose $1 to cover copying costs and postage (or not; _I_ may
have cost _you_ that much already!)
This is terribly low-tech, but tried-and-true. I can't blame the
Internet; if I had the time to learn the tools and techniques, I could put
the ASCII file somewhere you could all get to it, and post simple
directions as to how you would do that.
Thanks for your patience, and again, my apologies!

P.S. Camille Long, Bonnie Fulmer, Robert Sullivan, Shelley Lochhead,
Virginia Schuck, Regina Kopecky, and Vicki Sherouse...I got your requests
for snailmailed copies. Please send me the SASE as mentioned above, if
you don't mind. Thanks.
