MANKATO STATE UNIVERSITY - MINNESOTA - OPENING POSITION: Asst. Professor of Library Media Dept. (one year fixed term) DATE OF NOTICE: August 1, 1994 APPLICATION DEADLINE: Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until position is filled. DATE OF APPOINTMENT: September 6, 1994 SALARY: Dependent upon educational qualifications and experience RESPONSIBILITIES: *To teach undergraduate Instructional Media Utilization (LME 401) course (2-3 sections per quarter including one evening section) *To teach undergraduate Library Orientation (LME 101)-several sections *To teach graduate level media courses (LME 522/537) *To model use of media in the classroom (including computers, electronic communication, and video utilization) *To teach over the interactive television system *To participate actively in field experiences *To provide service to the regional education community *To incorporate multicultural perspective into assigned courses QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: M.S. in Library Media or related area, recent successful teaching experience at elementary level, ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, ability to model use of media in the classroom (including computers, electronic communication, and video), commitment to multicultural/gender-fair education. PREFERRED: College teaching experience, background in educational technology including knowledge of interactive teaching. RELATED INFORMATION: The Library Media Education Department, one of nine departments in the College of Education, Mankato State University, provides preservice and inservice education in all the common areas of media licensure K-12. The Department offers M.S. in Library Media, M.S. in Educational Technology, and Specialist Degree in Library Media. The Department is a leader in the training of preservice teachers and professional preparation of media personnel in Minnesota. Faculty are encouraged to provide professional leadership in planning uses of technology in the public schools, and faculty are actively involved in providing training for state electronic network, InforMNs.
