Dear Gideon, Congrtulations on your new job. You will love it, although I know
being on the job only three days is not easy.
Do you have a coordinator, supervisor or such you can discuss this problem with?
Are there written guidelines around? Is there a principal? Are thee other
librarians you can ask? Did someone tellyou to dump these book or is your own
decision? When in doubt be conservative. If you dump the books entirely you
cannot recall them. If you really need to get rid of them, off the shelves, put
them in boxes tillyou are absolutely sure of your decision. It is better often
to be safe than sorry. I know I sound like a wimp, but best be safe till you
know all the ropes.
