> catalog and shelve their single and collective biographies. She would like to > know if there is a definitive way to catalog single biographies - 92 or 921? > What schedule do you use? HOw do you catalog collective biographies - 920? > Where are biographies, both single and collective supposed to be shelved? Does > it really matter? She has taken an undergraduate cataloging course but says Dewey now shows the 921+ numbers as having been superceded. The recommended location for biography is now to use the -092 with the subject the person is known for (ie, baseball player(s) in 796.???092). Personally, I use a combination of this. Individual biography goes in 92 with the person's last name & the 3 letters of the author: 92 WASHINGTON KIN I put collective biography in the subject with -092. 796.936092 MANTLE DOW As a result, I have a very small section of 921+ - all of them older titles whose cataloging pre-dates this decision. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Melissa Davis Librarian Splendora Middle School Splendora I.S.D.
