I agree with you.  Education is the only field I can think of where the
people who need to take on whole new fields of endeavor are not given the
time or training opportunities (much less paying for them0 to equip
themselves with the knowledge they need to perform.  Recently, a teacher
friend was telling her husband (who works at Boeing Corp.) about having
to to pay for classes to learn about technology, and he laughed out
loud!  There is NO WAY employees at Boeing can imagine having to take
classes ON THEIR OWN TIME, much less, PAY FOR IT THEMSELVES!  That is
unheard of in the corporate world, I guess ....
