Fuller details about this mornings report:

Finger Lake - Linwood Fiedler was holding a narros, four minute lead
today over Dee Dee Jonrowe as the leaders made it into Finger Lake.

Both are from Willow. This is Fielder's 6th Iditarod and he finished
17th last year. Jonrowe has raced 12 times, finished 2nd in 1993
and in the top ten the last six years.

Fielder arrived at the Finger Lake checkppoint at 4:14 a.m. and
Jonrowe at 4:18 a.m. 3/7/94

Arriving within a half an hour:

Jeff King, from Denali
Bill Cotter from Nenana
rookie Ramy Brooks from Fiarbanks
1992 winner Martin Buser of Bil Lake
Doug Swigley from Sims, Montanta.

By 7:00 a.m. 17 mushers had arrived at Finger Lake and none had left on the
30 mile stretch to Rainy Pass after which the trail drops steeply
down the Dalzell Gorge and into the treacherous Farewell Burn.

Finger Lake is 194 miles from Anchorage, 957 miles from Nome.

The field includes 17 rookies - those mushers who are first time
Iditarod mushers and those repeaters who have yet to make it to
nome.
