Fuller details about this mornings report: Finger Lake - Linwood Fiedler was holding a narros, four minute lead today over Dee Dee Jonrowe as the leaders made it into Finger Lake. Both are from Willow. This is Fielder's 6th Iditarod and he finished 17th last year. Jonrowe has raced 12 times, finished 2nd in 1993 and in the top ten the last six years. Fielder arrived at the Finger Lake checkppoint at 4:14 a.m. and Jonrowe at 4:18 a.m. 3/7/94 Arriving within a half an hour: Jeff King, from Denali Bill Cotter from Nenana rookie Ramy Brooks from Fiarbanks 1992 winner Martin Buser of Bil Lake Doug Swigley from Sims, Montanta. By 7:00 a.m. 17 mushers had arrived at Finger Lake and none had left on the 30 mile stretch to Rainy Pass after which the trail drops steeply down the Dalzell Gorge and into the treacherous Farewell Burn. Finger Lake is 194 miles from Anchorage, 957 miles from Nome. The field includes 17 rookies - those mushers who are first time Iditarod mushers and those repeaters who have yet to make it to nome.
