Social Studies curriculum

I'm hoping someone can help our primary teachers.  They are interested in
teaching their social studies without the use of a textbook and would
like to develop some units to do so.  I'm sure somewhere, someone has
done just that.  The units of study are neighborhoods including the
community, surrounding states and countries, maps, needs and wants, goods
and services, rules and laws, how holidays originated and how they are
celebrated, and citizenship.

If you have units of studies, or lessons, or any ideas you are willing to
