I just got buttonholed in the corridor by the Assistant Superintendent in charge of federal grants. She wants to know about the range of Internet (and other on-line services) access available, and what would be best for the district. I can explain much of that myself, but I need more information on schools that have arranged large-scale access for students and staff, either through setting up their own Internet node in some form, or making an arrangement with a local university. Can anyone in either situation give me contact names and addresses in your schools who could answer questions about costs, equipment, feed providers? Can anyone tell me if they feel the expense of a separate node would be worth it for an urban school district, as opposed to, say, networked CD-ROMs, DIALOG, and just one or two Internet accounts? Thanks! Please send to me directly. If there is enough interest, I'll summarize for the list. %^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^% Katie Filipowicz, Library Media Specialist Lincoln High School, 375 Kneeland Ave., Yonkers, New York 10704 USA Phone: (914) 376-8392 Internet: catherine.filipowicz@execnet.com %^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%
