I'm still pursuing my questions about large-scale Internet access for students and staff. One concern someone brought up-- Those who have various kinds of dial-up or on-demand access: do you experience difficulties "getting on" due to heavy demand and not enough available lines? (I'm not talking telnet here.) If you do, what sort of access is it that you have, and who is your provider? I'm particularly interested in hearing from NYSERNet users, but I think other people on the list want to hear from other parts of the country. Second, for those schools that provide for individual student accounts: What do the students actually do with these accounts? For myself, I'm particularly interested in what at-risk, low-achieving students with poor reading and writing skills do. (This describes a large proportion of our student population in Yonkers.) Again, please respond to me directly. I'll summarize all this for the list when I get done collecting information. Thanks so much! %^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^% Katie Filipowicz, Library Media Specialist Lincoln High School, 375 Kneeland Ave., Yonkers, NY 10704 Phone: (914) 376-8392 Internet: catherine.filipowicz@execnet.com
