AUSTIN, TEXAS
JUNE 24, 1994

Co-Sponsored by:
Texas State Library and
The University of Texas at Austin,
Graduate School of Library and Information Science

Do you feel lost when the discussion turns toward the Internet? Would you like
to get a handle on the Internet and what it can provide for you and your
library? If you are interested in learning about the Internet, then this
 workshop is for you!

Anyone with basic computer experience is welcome. This workshop may be
particularly helpful to those who currently have Internet access, will have
Internet access within the next year, or those who are thinking about
 connecting to the Internet.

This full day workshop is designed to provide librarians with a solid basis for
beginning exploration of the Internet. The workshop objectives are:

To define the Internet and explain how it works
To explain terms or "jargon" associated with the Internet
To demonstrate the basics of Internet use
To view the Internet as a library resource

Christine Peterson, Automation Consultant at the Texas State Library, will
present the workshop. Demonstration will be used throughout the workshops to
highlight various tools or sources; however, no hands-on training will be done.

Fee: $33 ($37 for late registration). Registration is limited, so early
registration is advised. Check, purchase order, Visa or Mastercard is
accepted. Fee includes breaks and handout material. Lunch on your own.
Registration fees are used to support the UT-Austin GSLIS Continuing Education
 program.
