     NOTIFICATION OF PROFESSIONAL POSITION AT ALA

     ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

     This position will assist the director in coordinating
     all professional development activities for the
     National Library Power Program, AASL and YALSA.  The
     primary responsibilities of this three-year grant-
     funded position will be for the National Library Power
     Program.

     Required qualifications include: experience in pre-K-12
     education; a broad understanding of educational change
     and the facilitative role of the teacher/library media
     specialist; experience as a consultant or adult
     educator and demonstrated skill in interpersonal
     relations.  Preference will be given to candidates with
     an advanced degree in adult education, librarianship,
     or K-12 education and/or experience in association or
     non-profit organizations.  This position will require
     40-50% travel.

     Salary range:  $35,742 - $45,621.  Excellent benefit
     package includes 4 weeks vacation, medical and dental
