Paperback book repair

Help! I am surrounded by a mountain of paperbacks needing repair.  I have
two questions.
1.  What type of glue do you use to glue the spine back together?  I am
using Booksaver by Highsmith.  It works fair.  Which plastic cover works
best?
2.  Do you purchase paperbacks?  By the time I put on the plastic cover
and tape the spine I am wondering if I should buy Econoclad or Permabound
instead.
Any advice on paperbacks would be appreciated.  Thanks for reading this!
