I agree with Joyce. Iwas a taeching assitatnt at the college level a than a corporate librarian before i got my first job in a jr. sr. school library. I t was a private school so i didn't have a credential. I taught various classes through the years, english, gov't social studies, japanese and used the same skills in the library and the classroom. I am now in a public elementary school in Ca. I have an LMS but not a credential but as I put it, if I had the credential I would still be a library assitant because few elementary schools in Ca have LMT's in the elementary schools. I say they are getting a bargain having a librarian as a library assi't. Anyway I have learned through conferences etc. things I may have missed about elementary recources, but I feel I am a teacher as well as a librarian and I love working at the elementary level.
