The call for response to KIOSKS prompted
                    the following cognition:

If I were Vice President Al Gore and I received several
hundred meg - if not a gig - of negative response after
having unveiled the White House Web Server (which I
thought would generate accolades rather than protest)
which of the following course(s) of action might I
     consider appropriate?

     a. Put the GOPHER on the endangered species list

     b. Divide the WHITE HOUSE WEB access into parts for
equitable distribution in an attempt to deal with
        all territorial imperative/provincialism/ownership
        and/or distribution/domain issues
                                          - Solomon

     c. Formulate plans for the regulation of the
information and communication services provided by
Public Libraries and Post Offices to enable
librarians increased pay and benefits and/or
deregulate the aforementioned industries to ensure
competitiveness and stimulate the quality of the
        available resources/services of the latter

Someone on this listserv recently said "If you could be
replaced by a computer, you should...." hummmm......
Could an extension of that mean...."If a library could be
replaced by a post office, it should?"

Is this proposed installation of INTERNET access in US
Post Offices social progress - better than no plan?

I agree with Dan Robinson....who said,

"..I don't think we have to flood the White House
      with protests." dan@info.hwwilson.com

But wonder what statement librarians could make with
a deluge of Post Office employment applications? :)
