I was in Mrs. Rowland's 7th grade science class when we got the news. Even though that was never done, the principal played the radio news over the P.A. system. The kids were dismissed almost immediately to wander home in a state of shock. I had just learned to knit, and over that horrible weekend, I knit 3 or 4 pairs of shapeless, horrible socks -- they seemed to reflect the way I felt. Carolyn Noah, Worcester, MA
