I was coming out of a class during my freshman year in college when Kennedy was
shot.  I remember walking down the street and hearing snatches of conversations
and there were some people who were listening to portable radios.  On the
radios were verbal descriptions of someone who had been shot.  My immediate
reaction was that "one of those South American countries" had a problem again.
But people were obviously in a state of shock and I quickly got the word.  We
raced back to the dorm where we were glued to the television set (the only one
in the dorm) for days, seeing everything, including Oswald being shot. Nancy
