I was coming out of a class during my freshman year in college when Kennedy was shot. I remember walking down the street and hearing snatches of conversations and there were some people who were listening to portable radios. On the radios were verbal descriptions of someone who had been shot. My immediate reaction was that "one of those South American countries" had a problem again. But people were obviously in a state of shock and I quickly got the word. We raced back to the dorm where we were glued to the television set (the only one in the dorm) for days, seeing everything, including Oswald being shot.
