Dear Sandra,

        I was a freshman at Stephen Decatur High School in
Decatur, Ill.  I was sitting in Miss Pletch's Latin class when
the principal came over the PA and announced that JFK had been
shot.  We all sat in shock and silence.  A few minutes later,
the PA came on again and they broadcast the radio news.  I
believe we heard Walter Cronkite announce that JFK had been
pronounced dead.  It was an event I will never forget.
