Sandra, I grew up in Van Alstyne, Texas, a small town about 50 miles north of Dallas. I was a 14 yr. old high school freshman in 1963 and was sitting in biology class when our principal came over the loud speaker to announce, in a very solemn voice, that President Kennedy had been shot in Dallas. We were both shocked and sad, and many girls began to cry. By the way, my daughter, Kara, is an 8th grader at Carpenter Middle School here in Plano, Texas. She says hello! Last year, in 7th grade, she studied Texas history, and they had many discussions on the Kennedy assassination. She is fascinated with the subject and enjoyed visiting "The Sixth Floor" which is an exhibit in the Texas Schoolbook Depository - the building from which the shots supposedly came. Greetings from Texas to all of your students! Sarah Thorn, Librarian Rasor Elementary School 945 Hedgcoxe Plano, Texas 75025
