I was sitting in my 11th grade chemistry class on Friday afternoon looking forward to a fall weekend of touch football, when an announcement came over the pa system informing us that the President had been shot in Dallas. We sat in shocked silence. Our teacher put on a radio and we soon learned that Kennedy was dead. School was dismissed early and many of us walked or rode home in dazed confusion. I don't think the reality really hit us until the funeral several days later. I hope you 8th graders never have to live through an experience like this. -- Joe Light Library Media Specialist South Kingstown, Rhode Island sksrt001@LLwsbe.wsbe.org
