8 block class schedule

I am the librarian in a high school of about 500 students planning to
begin the 8-block schedule next year.  I am concerned about how this
will affect the use of our media center.  When will the students come in
to read current magazines and newspapers and just browse for pleasure
reading?  At the present time, students do this during study hall since
the study hall is located close to the library.  I would be interested
in hearing how other librarians handle this situation within the 8-block
format.  Also I welcome any comments on the 8-block schedule as it
relates to the library.  THANKS!!!
