MIDDLE: Hello and ALA question

I'm beginning my first year as a media specialist in a private middle
school after having spent 3 years as a children's librarian in the public
library. This listserv will be my life-saver this year!

My first question to you all regards ALA membership. I have been a member
of ALSC for years and I'm on an ALSC committee. I have to renew that
section membership, but I want to add YALSA or AASL because I am working
in a middle school. To add both plus the Independent Schools section of
AASL would bring my total dues to $195.00! YIKES! So, I need to choose
between AASL and YALSA. I recognize the importance and worth of both
divisions, but which one has been more useful and supportive to you as a
middle school media specialist? Has either? I'm also joining two of our
state media educator organizations.
