          The Web66 project announces:

                   Mustang
      The Educator's Web Cruising Vehicle.

The Mustang project is a vehicle for teachers to cruise down
Web66 on the World Wide Web. Web66 teachers don't "surf the net."
Surfers go back and forth over the same territory at the mercy of
the waves and never really get anywhere. Web66 teachers cruise the
web with the style of a '67 Mustang, deciding when to travel, which
direction to travel, and how far to travel. Web66 teachers are in
full control of their own destiny and can seek out the best educational
destinations anywhere on the web.

The goals of this project are:

    1. To give K12 educators a management model for integrating the
World Wide Web into the curriculum.

    2. To help K12 educators design and implement Internet projects
for their curriculum and graduation standards.

    3. To provide an on-line staff development program for teachers
who wish to integrate the Internet into their classroom.

Cruising down the Internet on Mustang, educators will find several
stops along the way. They will have assistance in "Preparing to Travel"
and can "Visit the Travel Agent" to find examples of how the Internet
is used to teach and to learn.

Educators can "Service their Vehicle" by accessing acceptable-use
policies, permission-to-publish forms, the Minnesota State Graduation
Standards, and other tools they will need.

While "Taking the Trip" on the Internet educators can "Select their
Destinations" by accessing a selection of jump pages divided by
subject areas in a guided tour of the Internet for K-12 Educators.

They can "Plan the Routes" that they will take while traveling the
Internet trip. Here an educator will find examples of how design a
project that includes Internet resources.

Things to come are "Hit the Road", Classroom implementation of the
project and "Returning to Home" to help you evaluate and publish
project results.

The Mustang server is part of the Web66 collaborative project of the
University of Minnesota College of Education and Human Development,
the Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement and
Hillside Elementary School. This project is made possible
by a grant from the 3M Corporation.
