I managed to get the address wrong, hence I have to answer this way. Watch for a great book coming out, "When Plague Strikes" which is a history of the Black Plague, Smallpox and AIDS and makes some interesting comparisons. In the discussion about the black plague, the author mentions the rhyme as being used then: the ring of rosy was the characteristic rash which heralded the plague...the posies were carried around to cover the stench of the time and also were supposed to be protection against the plague (I think, I don't remember exactly if that was true), and the rest is what happened...we all fall down.
