Caroline Cooney resently gave a talk in which she highly praised R.L. Stine. Her son is a non-reader - not a reluctant one, but one who reads not at all. He is a teen now and became interested in reading because he WANTED to readed Stine and King. If Stine is why kids read, then Stine is what I'll give them. I also booktalk aften so kids have a passing knowledge of what's out there in other genres. Not much is left on the cart when I'm done booktalking. If Stine is good enough for Cooney, whose books a push in booktalks, then Stine is good enough for my readers. Does anyone else booktalk often? If so, in what classes and on what topics. Thanks!
