ELEM: Prep Time Alternatives

This is a request for ideas and possibilities for creative & effective
programs or solutions you have found to provide prep time for elementary
teachers.

We are a large school district in Minnesota.  Recent contract language has
provided 55 minutes of prep time for all teachers within the student day.
A committee of teachers, parents & administrators has been formed to find a
creative way to provide this prep time with the priority being on how we
can best serve the students.  Currently elementary teachers have 30 minutes
within the day provided by the music and physical education specialists,
and the remainder is either before or after school with the provision that
those minutes are not infringed upon by other school obligations.

Of course, our parameters include dollars and, as a start, we would hope
the solution could be implemented to abide by contract language and provide
the time WITHIN the school day. Please respond if you have found a "new and
different" way to solve this dilemma.
