ELEM: Popular reading from past

Our school is working on a project called A Century of Change and grade 5
library students are surveying people they know about what they read when
they were in elementary school.  Students are searching for equivalents
to todays Goosebumps, Babysitters Club, Magic Eye.  Does anyone know if
there has been an article or list compiled by decade of the most popular
children's reading titles?
