Foolproof and Chooser

Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a conflict with Foolproof
and the Chooser on the Mac 5200.  With the printer, modem, and scanner
extensions all on the Chooser and with the Chooser locked, I kept getting
messages saying that there was a printing problem with the Stylewriter and
check the print monitor or check the Stylewriter connections.  These
problems intensified after I used the scanner and I was not able to get
into the chooser at all.  I was alerted to this when the modem would not
dial up more than once.  The first time this happened I ended up
reinstalling all of the system software but yesterday the Mac service
representative was coming out to replace a bad video card and he found the
problem.

I notified Foolproof, who said that the problem would be corrected in an
upgrade due out after the first of the year.  The solution now is to remove
as many aliases in the Apple Menu items as possible.  This can be done by
making a secondary folder in the Apple Menu Items folder and putting all of
the application aliases inside it.  I have done this and today had no
problems trying to get into the chooser.  However I have kept the chooser
unlocked.  I have not tried the scanner yet but will do so after the first
of the year.

Foolproof also recommended installing the Super Init which I haven't done.
The Super Init prevents anyone from disabling Foolproof with extensions
off.

I will be ordering the upgrade when I get back to school after Christmas.
