I have been interested in the discussion about "what should we be called?" While I, too, like the "information specialist", I believe that it is the "specialist" rather than "teacher" in our job title that helps to perpetuate the "weekly death march to the library" to be taught something"special" by the specialist in much the same way that the art and music teachers "do their thing" without the presence of the classroom teacher. I don't like "library media teacher" but perhaps "information literacy teacher" will do it? That conveys all that we do, with the implication of lifetime learning as an outcome. And sends a message that our function is different from our cousins in the public library. Also, it tells the world that we are not just "bookies" or "techies" but the whole ball of wax.
