Hello, I'm a librarian working at a respected academic library. I specialize in computer assisted instruction, although I also do a lot of reference work. While my job is in many ways intellectually rewarding and financially satisfying, I've grown disenchanted with the academic life. I could aim for jobs in public libraries but this option doesn't appeal to me for various reasons. Increasingly, I'm looking at school librarianship as a viable career alternative. For this I would like to know: 1) Do I need a teaching certificate to get job as a school librarian, or will my MLS suffice? 2) Can anyone recommend the best route for getting a job as a school librarian? For instance, where can I expect to find jobs of this kind posted? Any adivce that anyone can give me for finding this kind of work would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!
