I would like to guess that Madeleine L'Engle's "Troubling a Star" is a
strong contender for either the award itself of for an honor award. If it
did win or receive honor status, it would follow, as it does in sequence,
the last Newbery honor book Madeleine had--"A Ring of Endless Light".
