What Hearts by Brooks was a Newbery Honor book in 1992. I just read it. I feel it is too mature for elem. children. I don't think they have the maturity for the book. I saw it as a psychological fiction dwelling on Asa's relationships and lack of or inability to love. Am I off base? What do others think?
