Half-Time Media Specialist

The school district in which I live, Georgetown, Ohio, has decided to let the
high school media specialist work only 80 days instead of 183 at HER request
and use a full-time aide in her place.  I am extrememly upset about this for a
number of reasons as you can well imagine.

At the very least I plan to write letters to the adminsitration and board and
may address them at the next board meeting.  I plan to imclude a description of
everything a media specialist should be doing, the role of the media specialist
in the future of education, and the position of the media center as the center
of information access.  I would appreciate any thoughts I should include.

I find it hard to believe that in this age of information explosion anyone could
consider this a good step for the future of a school.  I find it inconceivable
that a media specialist would suggest this!
