The Clancy novels aren't long on characterization, and tend to be male
dominated. It's not just Clancy, most cold war novels feature Soviet
droid-women or fatally beautiful (and inexplicably helpless)
sidekick-women. How can I, intrepid and resourceful (like Kinsey Milhone)
possibly relate?
We all have our guilty pleasures...mysteries, romances, hospital dramas.
I think the choices we make might have something to do with "how likely."
I can sorta kinda see myself wearing tiny shoes and an impossible
ballgown, slipping down the back stairs of a country house. Can't imagine
myself in a submarine. If I found myself in a submarine in my imagination
I would go to the library ASAP! Thanks to everyone for sharing books!
