WASHINGTON JOURNALISM CONFERENCE/CONGRESSIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP

Hi!
        Had a request/question from one of our teachers, and I'm hoping
someone can help me out.  Has anyone heard of the Congressional Youth
Leadership Council?  One of our students was invited to apply to attend a
"Washington Journalism Conference" next April.  It sounds great, but it
would cost $800 for the conference plus airfare from Wisconsin.  According
to the info provided, students who have a GPA of at least 3.5 and an
interest in journalism may be invited; the student in question has a GPA of
2.8. Because of the potential cost involved, we're wondering if this is a
"legitimate" organization and if anyone has further information on the
Council and its programs.  Any light that anyone could shed would be
greatly appreciated.
